Gaming should be for everyone.
Glitch is committed to making retro gaming accessible to all players, regardless of ability. We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level for our web interfaces. Accessibility isn't an afterthought — it's a core part of how we design and build every feature.
We recognize that accessibility is a journey, not a destination. We're continuously improving and welcome feedback from our community to help us do better.
Every feature in the Glitch web interface is fully accessible via keyboard. Tab through the library, manage save states, and control playback without touching a mouse.
Our Neon Arcade theme features carefully chosen contrast ratios that meet WCAG AA standards. Bright accents on dark backgrounds ensure readability for all users.
The library browser, game cards, and navigation use semantic HTML and ARIA labels so screen readers can convey the full experience.
Every gamepad button can be remapped to suit your needs. Play with whatever layout feels comfortable to you.
Clear, visible focus indicators on all interactive elements so you always know where you are on the page.
Glitch works on screens of all sizes. Whether you're on a 4K monitor or a mobile phone, the interface adapts gracefully.
Glitch supports any HID-compatible controller, including the Xbox Adaptive Controller — Microsoft's accessibility-focused gamepad designed for players with limited mobility. If your assistive device presents itself as a standard gamepad, it will work with Glitch. Button remapping is available for all controllers, allowing you to create a layout that works for your specific needs.
Glitch streams original retro games as they were designed. We cannot modify the games themselves to add accessibility features — the content is rendered from the original code. Some fast-paced action games may present challenges for players with certain disabilities. We are exploring features like adjustable game speed and input assist in Glitch Labs to help address these limitations over time.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier while using Glitch, we want to know about it. Your feedback directly shapes our priorities. Contact our accessibility team at accessibility@glitchonline.com with a description of the issue and we'll work to address it.
